The Sunset Kidd's Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I park? Once you enter the Harbor on Harbor Way parking is available in several locations. The Harbor East Lot, to your immediate left is through the kiosk, the cost is $3 per hour. The Harbor West Lot, 2nd lot on the right is a self-pay parking system (pay in advance) that is $3 per hour. Be advised.
Do not park in the posted 90 minute areas before 4:35pm, you will get a ticket. We do not validate parking passes.
Where do I board the boat? The Sunset Kidd Sailing Yacht is located in the beautiful Santa Barbara Harbor. You can find us docked on the main walkway in front of the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum and the Anchor Rose Restaurant really easy and convenient to find. Our boat is green and white, it says Sunset Kidd on it.

When should I arrive? Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your departure time. The boat leaves promptly at the scheduled departure time. You are allowed to board the boat 30 minutes prior.
If by chance you are running late please inform us so we are aware of your delay.
Where is the office located? Our office is located very close to where the boat is docked. We are in building #125, up the stairs, facing the harbor, suite #13. There is a large glass window with our name on it. If you have any problems finding us don't hesitate to call (805) 962-8222.
How long is the trip? Depends Day trips: 2 hours, Sunset trip: 1.5 hours, Whale Watching up to 2.5 hours
What does the trip price include? Your ticket purchase price includes your Captain and Crew to take you out to sea. All taxes and harbor fees are included in this price.
Do I tip the Captain and Crew? Yes. Gratuities are appreciated. Your Captain and Crew are providing you a service. Their knowledge and your safety is priceless. 20% is customary.
Do I need a boarding pass? Yes. You can pick up your boarding pass at our office located in the Santa Barbara Harbor. You are welcome to go to the boat first for directions, as the boat is easier to find than the office.
What should I wear? Please dress accordingly to the weather. When at sea sometimes it can be cooler than on land, bring a jacket. We offer blankets on board.
What can I bring? Bring a bag or backpack containing items such as a camera, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, jacket
Can I bring Food or Drinks on board? yes BYOFAB bring your own food and beverages (bring your own fabulousness!)
Do you serve food? No but you may bring what you like and we recommend ordering the great food and drinks at

Will I get sea sick? Don't fool yourself, if you're prone to an easily upset stomach due to movement, take the necessary precautions to make yourself comfortable. Keep in mind though as the wind fills the sails the pressure of the wind forces the boat to lean. This leaning prevents the boat from rocking... no rocking, no seasickness, more fun!
Is there restrooms on the boat? Yes. The Sunset Kidd has two heads. We do suggest using a nearby restroom prior to boarding the boat.
Will I get wet? It is rare to get wet on the Sunset Kidd. But do remember that we are a true working sailboat.
Do you allow children? Yes. The Sunset Kidd is a very kid friendly boat. A safe and stable vessel for all ages.
We provide lifejackets.
Is there an age restriction/ limit? No. Whether you are an infant or an elder, everyone loves to sail. We will do our best to make sure you are comfortable.
Where do I sit? The Sunset Kidd Sailboat offers many seating options. Our deck space is large, offering areas to walk around. There is seating on the bow, benches on the aft, and a covered cockpit area. The Sunset Kidd below offers a settee, a double aft room, and a forward berth.
Do you allow pets? Yes. Pets love to Sail too. All pets are welcome. Though if there is an issue with another passenger on board you will be asked to remove your pet. You are responsible for the safety of your pet.
Do you have handicap access? Yes. There is a ramp to access down to the boat. Do be cautious that there is a few steps up to the boat. If you need assistance please be sure to inform us so we can assist you with your needs.
Are we guaranteed to see sea life? The ocean is very large. Every trip is different. Frequent visits with sea life is not rare.
Where does the boat go? We leave the harbor to the open sea and go wherever the wind takes us. Every trip is unique.
Will we be going to the Channel Islands? Yes if you booked a private island charter with us. We do not sail to the islands on our public day cruises.
How many people are on the boat? Our vessel is Coast Guard Certified to accommodate up to 16 passengers comfortably. Never over crowding like most tourist rides.
Is there a minimum for departure? Yes. We have a minimum of 4 passengers in order for the boat to depart.
What is your cancellation policy? 100% non-refundable payment is due at the time of booking. In case of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, a gift certificate may be issued to allow passengers to join Sunset Kidd on a more appropriate sailing day. All cancellations are up to the discretion of the office manager.
Can I change my reservation? Reservation changes are up to the discretion of the office manager and schedule availability. Please contact us immediately if you need to reschedule your cruise.
Do you offer discounts? Children discounts are available on our Morning Cruise. No other discounts are available.
What kind of payments do you accept? We accept all major credit cards, cash, checks, VENMO and Sunset Kidd gift certificates.
